Description
Lavasteen Seamless Floor & wall – Portobello concrete look
Why choose a finish that lasts for decades? Lavasteen Seamless Floor in Portobello stands for responsible construction and daily comfort. The system is designed for long-term performance in homes and projects.
Natural lava stone minerals and an advanced epoxy system form one seamless surface: completely waterproof, highly scratch-resistant and ready for intensive use. Cleaning remains simple.
Portobello is a warm, earthy taupe shade that exudes calm. The colour allows wood, black steel and light natural stone to harmonise beautifully and suits a wide range of styles.
Less frequent replacement requires fewer raw materials and transport. The ecological footprint decreases visibly. Portobello is a sustainable choice that also pays off financially.
Sustainable benefits at a glance
- 100% waterproof – ideal for shower trays, bathrooms and kitchens; even if the top layer is locally damaged, the base layer remains waterproof.
- Seamless & hygienic – no joints; stains cannot penetrate and cleaning is quick.
- Highly scratch-resistant – Lavasteen reinforces the matrix; suitable for residential, hospitality and office spaces with heavy traffic.
- Underfloor heating compatible – thin layer with efficient heat transfer; suitable for new builds and renovations.
- Control over appearance – pour and trowel: sleek-minimalist or subtly vibrant.
- Low-maintenance – daily cleaning with mild products; aggressive cleaners are not required.
What is Lavasteen Seamless Floor?
Lavasteen seamless floor is a 2-component system based on concrete stucco and epoxy: an A-component (base mass with pigment) and a B-component (epoxy hardener).
After mixing, a firm, spreadable paste is created. You pour the material out and distribute it manually with a trowel on floor and wall; this way you maintain maximum control over texture, nuance and movement.
Unlike a fully self-levelling epoxy resin floor — which flows out by itself — Lavasteen Seamless Floor gives you control. The concrete look therefore aligns precisely with the space and desired style.

Applications & Substrates
Residential: living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms/showers, staircases and bespoke furniture. Commercial: retail spaces, hospitality venues and offices with intensive use.
New build & renovation: seamless, low-maintenance finish with a sleek, matte look.

Apply Responsibly Yourself
Sustainability starts with getting it right first time. Our installation guide minimises waste and margin for error. In summary:
- Prepare the substrate – stable, clean and level; apply primer for adhesion where necessary.
- Mixing – stir component A until homogeneous; add the weighed component B and mix for 2–3 minutes.
- Layer 1 – apply thinly and tightly; remove tape; allow to dry for at least 24 hours.
- Layer 2 – choose tight or subtle movement; lightly mist and distribute the "slip coat" with a flexible trowel for nuance.
- Curing & sanding – cure again for approx. 24 hours; sand with grit 80 (short = anti-slip, longer = smoother).
- PU topcoat – protects against yellowing and simplifies maintenance; can be applied in multiple layers if desired.

Comparison with other finishes
- Lavasteen Seamless Floor (Portobello) – applied manually with trowel; matte concrete look; extremely hard, scratch-resistant and fully waterproof; ideal for floor & wall, suitable for homes, new builds and underfloor heating.
- Epoxy resin floor – fully self-levelling and industrially smooth; less suitable for residential/new-build/underfloor heating.
- PU poured floor – elastic and comfortable; works well with underfloor heating, but less hard/scratch-resistant than Lavasteen Seamless Floor.
- Traditional Beton Ciré / microcement – cement-based; only waterproof with additional PU layer; less wear-resistant.
