Lavasteen Seamless Floor

A trowelable finish with ground lava stone in epoxy. Waterproof thanks to the epoxy components themselves — even when damaged. Slip-resistant through natural grain structure. By far the best product for a wet room.

The combination

Why we recommend wall and floor separately

In a bathroom, you don't want to compromise on the floor. There's too much water, things drop more easily, and the finish must be durable day in, day out. For the floor, we therefore always recommend Lavasteen Seamless Floor — epoxy-based, intrinsically waterproof, even if the top layer is scratched or impacted. On a wall, nothing ever falls; there, microcement with PU topcoat can perform for decades.

Why not microcement on the bathroom floor?

Microcement is mineral and becomes waterproof through the PU topcoat above it. If that topcoat is damaged — by a falling object or years of walking on one spot — moisture can penetrate the mineral. On a wall that's no problem, on a floor it is. Lavasteen solves that: the epoxy components themselves form a dense, closed mass. A scratch or impact doesn't mean water can get through.

Or entirely in Lavasteen

A second option: Lavasteen on both floor and wall. The same paste, the same colour, one continuous surface from floor to ceiling. For walls one layer of filling PU is applied (instead of multiple as on a kitchen floor). The result: a bathroom that feels like one material — only the texture differs subtly between floor and wall.

Colour and light

Both materials colour differently under different lighting conditions. We visit for a survey and help you choose with colour samples you can view in your own bathroom, in both daylight and evening lighting. That avoids surprises after completion.

Frequently asked

Microcement or Lavasteen in my bathroom?

Do I have to choose between microcement and Lavasteen?
Not necessarily. Our standard recommendation: microcement on the wall, Lavasteen on the floor. But Lavasteen can also go on the wall — one material for the entire bathroom. What suits depends on your desired look, budget and lighting situation.
Why not microcement on the floor?
Microcement is mineral-based and becomes waterproof through a PU topcoat. On a wall, nothing ever falls, so the PU remains intact for years. On a floor, a dropped object can damage the PU, allowing moisture to penetrate the mineral layer. For floors, we therefore always recommend Lavasteen Seamless Floor.
Can the entire bathroom be finished in Lavasteen?
Yes. Lavasteen is available for both floors and walls. On the wall, one filling layer of PU is applied; on the floor, the same. For a bathroom, it is by far the best product — fully waterproof thanks to the epoxy components.
How long does a complete bathroom take?
On average 2 to 3 days, depending on surface area and combination. A bathroom finished entirely in Lavasteen requires slightly more time than a microcement wall with a Lavasteen floor.
Which colour suits best?
Microcement has 36 standard colours plus NCS/RAL bespoke options. Lavasteen has 20 standard colours; NCS/RAL is possible but requires additional time. We bring colour samples to help you choose the right shade in your lighting conditions.
