Resin floor in the living room
seamless, warm, for years to come.

A resin floor in the living room provides calm, spaciousness and a modern aesthetic — without joints, without the harshness of concrete. On this page we compare microcement and Lavasteen Resin Floor for your living room, with advice for each situation and cost indication.

Benefits

Why a resin floor in the living room?

  • Seamless — no joints, no transitions. One continuous surface from wall to wall. Visually, it makes your space appear larger.
  • Tactile warmth — feels more natural and softer than tiles. With underfloor heating, it's pleasant underfoot even in winter.
  • Low maintenance — mopping suffices. No grout lines that discolour, no scratches you can't remove.
  • Suits any interior — from Scandinavian light to industrial dark. 56 colour choices across our two product lines.
  • Durable — 15+ years lifespan under normal use. No replacement like laminate or vinyl after a few years.
Choice

Microcement or Lavasteen Resin Floor?

Lavasteen Resin Floor — for the living room floor

Our recommendation for the living room floor: Lavasteen Resin Floor. Epoxy-based, robust, wear-resistant, and with PU topcoat easy to keep clean. Available in 20 natural shades (Sea Shell, Sand, Pearl, Lavender Grey, Anthracite, etc.).

Why Lavasteen on the living room floor? Because a living room is used daily — chair legs, dog claws, grit in shoe soles. Lavasteen withstands this better than microcement, and if something is ever dropped it remains watertight.

Microcement — for walls and furniture in the living room

Microcement is an excellent choice for feature walls, fireplace surrounds and bespoke furniture in your living room. The mineral matte finish works beautifully alongside a Lavasteen Resin Floor. Combine colours from the same palette for a harmonious whole.

Underfloor heating?

Both product lines work perfectly with underfloor heating. Due to the thin layers, warmth conducts quickly — you feel it faster than with thick tiles. Important: underfloor heating must be correctly commissioned before application (slow warm-up) to prevent cracking.

Costs

What does a resin floor in the living room cost?

Do-it-yourself

Our kits are designed for DIY, with instructions and tool recommendations. Per 5 m² bucket:

  • Microcement: from € 155 / 5 m² = € 31 per m²
  • Lavasteen Resin Floor: from € 235 / 5 m² = € 47 per m²

Professional installation

For professional installation we typically charge:

  • Microcement on floor: € 80–120 / m² including material and labour
  • Lavasteen Resin Floor on floor: € 90–150 / m² including material and labour

Price depends on: substrate (bare screed = cheaper than removing tiles), colour choice (NCS/RAL = surcharge), surface area (larger = lower m² price due to economies of scale).

Example: living room 35 m² in Lavasteen Resin Floor, on existing cement screed, in standard colour = approximately € 3,500–4,500 including labour. Request a bespoke quotation.
